Little Knights Football was established in 1953 and with the help of volunteers, players, parents, and family, have been a strong asset to the Belleville, IL area and surrounding high school programs for over 60 years. We have exprienced coaching at every level. All of our head coaches specialize in specific age groups and do not move up with the same group of kids throughout your childs youth exprience. This allows your child to really learn different aspects, language, technique, and fundamentals in the sport of football.
The Little Knights offer children in the age range of 5 years old to 14 years old (not in high school) the opprotunity to play. Kids are divided by age groups, 6U, 7U, 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, and 14U, "U" meaning "Under". 6U allows 5 and 6 yr olds to play together. 14U allows 13 and 14 yr olds (not in high school) to play together. The cut off date for age is the child's age as of September 1st, example- if your child turns 9yrs old at 12:01am on September 1st, they play in the 9U age group. There is no try outs, however registration may be cut off, or an age group may split at a certain point to insure all children have plenty of opprotunities to play. No team may have more than 35 players on it.
Season team practice will start at the end of July. Exact practice times, dates, and schedules will be given out at registrations, or you will be notified as the new season approaches. All teams will have 4 no-pads practices before suiting up in a padded practice. Each team will run practices from the end of July, until mid-November.
Regular Season games will start the weekend before Labor Day. All Regular Season games will be scheduled for Saturday or Sunday, unless it's a make up game. The Regular Season will last for 9 weeks, some age gorups or divisions may have bye weeks, but typically every player gets to experience 8-9 games. Games are 4 quarters long, lasting 10 minutes each, with occasional clock stopages. Each game is alotted 2 hours play time. The 6U division is an exception and may have differnt seasonal/practices guidlines.
Tri-County Jr. Football Conference will determine the spots available for playoffs per age group/division at the begining of the season. If your team makes it to the playoffs, they will be a part of a single elimination bracket consisting of 4 teams. Playoff games will be held the two following weekends after the regular season ends. Playoffs are done by Thanksgiving, but some teams do choose to do tournament play after the playoffs.
